I will be thankful for this election to be over. I’ve seen some horrible things happen and it just breaks my heart. I’m glad I’ve seen these things too; it has been very revealing as to the condition of our minds, mouths and hearts. I’ve had several friends on social media explain how they are losing friends due to their political stance. Really? Have we become so intolerant and selfish or do we just not want to listen and respect one another. Maybe its both.

We do not LISTEN to one another. We just want to vomit our ideology on each other and slam the door shut; frankly caring little for the wounds we just inflicted. It appears we have lost the skills of communication. Each of us has an opinion, an idea, a thought. We need to listen to each other or our own thoughts do not grow. We need to listen to remember the art of respect and communication. Intimidation has taken over interest. “Listen to me!” rather than, “I had a great thought! Want to hear it?”

It is no surprise to me with the age of technology we are in. There is no need to be conversing with each other. No need to talk when you can text message. No need to take your own thoughts captive, when you can just react, react, react and Tweet them out. No need to love thy neighbor when you can just block them. “I want to be heard right now!”

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

Holy cow! Put your phones away! Turn off the TV or tablet and go TALK to some one! We have become intolerant of others individuality because we are SO focused on US! Instant gratification and edification. I see this around me and it breaks my heart. Children literally are screaming for their parents attention because they can’t be heard! Mom or Dad is on their phone! Poor kids are angry, frustrated and communicatively constipated. No wonder people don’t care what you think; they are not being heard.

James 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Imagine how God feels. Watching His creations scream, shout, shoot, scramble about. I see Him weep. We can not pull our lives, our homes, our country back until we start to listen. When intolerance becomes interest we can learn. We cannot grow if our mouths are constantly running. Zip it UP! Start with yourself. Spend a few days being quiet. Listen to what is around you. You might find that the people you were putting down, really have more in common than you thought.

Take time to listen to God. We become babbling brooks before Him. We don’t listen. We plead His voice, but we dont hush up to HEAR. He wants us to hear Him. He wants to impart upon us His voice, His warmth, His will. When we take the time to listen, He blesses us. At that time He can give us knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. We can change ourselves; thus enabling us to influence our homes, communities, and nation.

Luke 2:46-47 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.

Tonight try being still. We need to pray and listen in the hours to come. If you haven’t voted yet; seek Gods face. Ask HIM whom HE has chosen and whom you should vote for. Seek His counsel. And then wait. The privilege of voting should not be taken lightly. Vote with the Divine Counsel of the King of Kings; remember it is He who establishes the law and chooses the leaders of the nations.

Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

There is much speculation for the days to come. Be a peace-maker and a peace-keeper. Listen to God. Don’t be a peace-breaker running your mouth, spewing thoughts. Remember Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 8:34-35 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord; 

1 Timothy 2:1-2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 

I pray for you a season of peace that you may listen. Open your ears and heart; not your mouth. And I pray God blesses us to love one another with a deep love. ❤️
